338,159 records
This collection contains records of individuals who emigrated from or immigrated to Finnish parishes in the Karelia region (Muuttokirja Muuttaneiden luettelot), between the years 1836 and 1921. Records typically include the name of the emigrant, place of residence, the date and place of departure or arrival, and the name of the father.

This collection contains information from church register lists, also called communion books. These records were kept by the Lutheran Church in Finland. Since the Lutheran Church was the state religion for hundreds of years, church records are the most important records for Finnish genealogical research since they cover the entire population.
